Friend said my pour over technique was all wrong

My buddy Dave watched me brew at his place last weekend and told me I was pouring too fast over the grounds. He showed me his slow spiral method and the coffee actually tasted cleaner. Anyone else have a basic habit someone called out that turned out to be right?

You ever seen someone try to pour with a kettle that had no spout? My buddy used a measuring cup once and it was a disaster.

Whoa wait, a measuring cup?! That's bonkers. I can just picture the awkward tilt and the stream of hot water going everywhere except into the cup. Did they at least try to aim it like a fire hose or just give up and use a turkey baster?
