I finally spent $200 on a burr grinder and my coffee went from ok to actually good
I used a $20 blade grinder for 3 years and always wondered why my pour overs tasted off. Two months ago I caved and got a refurbished Baratza Encore for $200, which felt insane at the time. The first cup I made with it honestly shocked me, the flavors were clear instead of muddy and I could actually taste the difference between two beans from the same shop in Portland. Now I'm eyeing a gooseneck kettle, so has anyone here upgraded from a cheap kettle and did it really matter for your pour control?
