My French press exploded all over my kitchen counter this morning
Honestly, I was just trying to make a quick cup before work and I guess the grounds were too fine. Has anyone else had this happen, and how do you avoid it?

My friend had that happen once, it was a huge mess. She used pre-ground espresso powder by mistake, which is way too fine. Now she just double checks the grind size before she starts.

Honestly I've done that exact thing and it still worked fine. My machine has a pressurized portafilter though, so maybe that's why. The grind size matters less with those basic models. I think people stress about it way too much. As long as it's not dust, you can usually make it work.

My first time I made a cup that tasted like burnt dirt, maybe it's just me but I can't get the grind right.
