Question about why people keep calling light roasts "weak" when they are actually the most caffeinated
Had a guy at the shop on 4th Street last week send back his pour over because he said light roast is basically flavored water and he needed something with a real kick. Here is the thing, roasting actually burns off caffeine the longer it goes, so that dark roast he swapped to has less of the stuff per scoop, not more. The dark taste just reads as strong to people, and the smoke and char hide the fruit notes they think are missing. I have tested this at home with the same dose and grind, 18 grams on a scale both times, and the light one keeps me up longer every single time. Anyone else have a regular who refuses to believe this no matter how many times you explain it?
