Shoutout to the barista who told me I was grinding too fine
I've been doing pour-over for about 9 months and couldn't figure out why my coffee always tasted bitter and took 5 minutes to drain. A barista at a shop near me watched me do a brew and just said "your grind is choking the filter." I backed off two clicks on my grinder and now my brews finish in 3 minutes flat. The flavor opened up completely less sour and more of the fruity notes came through. Anyone else had a stranger fix a problem you'd been fighting for months?

Oh man, I spent a whole month blaming my tap water before realizing I was just grinding my beans into dust.

My buddy did the exact same thing with his espresso machine.

Dropped a whole bag of beans into the grinder and had it set to Turkish without checking. Took me an hour to clean that mess out of every crevice.
