A barista at Blue Bottle told me to stop ordering the same drink every time

Last month at the Blue Bottle on 3rd Street, the barista looked at my order of a plain drip coffee with oat milk and said, 'You know, we have a rotating single-origin that changes every week. You might want to try it instead of the house blend.' I took her advice and now I ask what's new each visit. It's opened up a whole world of flavors I never knew existed. Has anyone else had a barista push them out of their comfort zone like that?

You know, I used to be one of those people who ordered the exact same thing every time I went anywhere. I thought I knew what I liked and why mess with a good thing, right? But then a barista at a local shop did the same thing to me with the "rotating single-origin" line, and honestly I felt a little annoyed at first. But I tried it once just to shut them up and now I see what you mean about flavors opening up. It's like you don't realize you've been in a flavor rut until someone pulls you out of it. I'm glad you took the advice, it changed my mind about being so stubborn with my orders.

Not to be contrarian but isn't this just coffee we're talking about? I mean I get that finding a new flavor is cool and all but calling it a "rut" feels a little dramatic for a morning drink order. People get excited about the smallest stuff these days (myself included sometimes) and it's good to step back and remember it's just caffeine in a cup.
