A barista's offhand comment about my go-to order kind of stopped me
Tbh I always get the same oat milk latte at this shop on 5th, every single day for like 2 years. Last week the barista, her name is Dana, said 'you always pick the safe option, huh?' and I laughed it off. But then I sat down and thought about it, and honestly half my routine is just avoiding decision fatigue. Has anyone else realized their usual order is less about taste and more about feeling in control?
My friend Mike is the exact same way with his coffee order. He told me once he literally rotates between two drinks at his place just so he doesn't have to think about it. One time his regular spot was out of oat milk and he just stood there staring at the menu for like five minutes before asking for a black coffee. He said the whole thing felt wrong, like his whole morning plan got ruined. So yeah, I think Dana read you perfectly, it's not about the taste, it's about not having to make another choice.
