Hit 50 different coffee shops this year and it completely changed how I pick a spot

I swear I used to only go to the same three places near my house. Then I made a dumb goal to try a new coffee shop every week back in January... well I just crossed 50 and the number surprised me. What convinced me to branch out was realizing most shops have totally different vibes for remote work. Some have fast WiFi but loud music, others are quiet but the outlets are hidden. I found this one place with a back patio and string lights that's perfect for meeting people. Anyone else keep a list of places you've been to or am I just weird about this?

...and then you start noticing the little things that drive you crazy once you've been to enough spots. For me it's the lighting. Some places are just way too dark for reading a book or doing any real work, you know? Dim mood lighting is great for a date but terrible for reading a menu or typing on a laptop. I had this one place that looked amazing in photos but the overhead lights were actually those yellow Edison bulbs that make everything look like a sepia filter. My eyes were killing me after 30 minutes.

Oh man, preach. I walked into a spot last week that looked cozy online but I couldn't even see the menu without using my phone flashlight. The Edison bulb thing is a nightmare for anyone over 40. My wife and I left before we even ordered, just not worth the headache.

Used to think lighting was something I barely noticed until I started hitting different spots too. Now I walk in a place and it's the first thing I check, if I can't read my laptop screen without squinting I'm out in five minutes. The yellow bulb thing is brutal, makes everything feel warm but totally useless for getting work done. Found a shop with big windows and natural light that became my go to because of that alone. Never would have paid attention to that before branching out.
