I swore my $90 keyboard was fine for coffee shop work, then the guy next to me let me try his
I've been hauling my old clunky keyboard to cafes around Austin for like 8 months and always thought people with fancy setups were just showing off. Last Tuesday a guy at Bennu let me type on his split one for 10 minutes and my wrists didn't ache for the first time all year. Anyone else switch gear after trying someone else's at a shop, or am I just easily swayed?
My whole personality is buying cheap gear and acting smug about it until one person hands me something better and suddenly I'm a convert. Bought a "gaming" mouse off Amazon for $12 and told everyone it was just as good as the fancy ones, then tried a buddy's at a LAN thing and felt like a caveman. Same thing happened with my camping chair, my headphones, and honestly my last pair of shoes. At this point my friends just let me borrow their stuff and wait for me to eat my words. Ten minutes on a split keyboard sounds dangerous for my wallet.
