My go-to remote work spot got totally remodeled and ruined the quiet vibe
I used to hit this little place called The Nook in Portland every Tuesday for 4 hours of solid focus, but they just redid the whole interior last month. Now they have this open layout with hard floors and no carpets, so every noise bounces around like crazy. The owner told me they wanted a 'modern look' but they forgot that half their customers were there to actually work. I tried wearing noise-canceling headphones but it's still distracting with people walking right behind my chair. Has anyone else had a favorite cafe change their setup and lose the cozy feel? I'm looking for a new spot in the Pearl District if anyone knows one.

Wait, The Nook on Flanders? I thought they moved to a new spot across town. Did they remodel the old location instead?

The old location is gone now, that spot on Flanders is actually a different place with the same name. A friend dragged me there last month thinking it was the same Nook from before and we were both confused. The new spot across town has way better parking and the menu is basically the same, that's where I'd go. @sarah_mason you should check out the new one on River Road, they kept the same baked brie recipe and that's what really matters.
