My laptop died mid-order at a busy cafe, had to handwrite everything
Was at that crowded spot on 12th street last Friday, finally got a table by the window, pulled out my laptop to order a flat white and some food. Screen just went black. Battery gave out, no charger with me, and their outlets were all taken. Panic mode. I asked the barista for a pen and napkin, wrote '1 flat white, 1 avocado toast' and my name. Handed it over, she laughed, took it. The whole process took like 3 minutes extra but I felt like a caveman. Made me realize how much I rely on my phone for even basic stuff. Anyone else had their tech fail at the worst moment in a cafe? How did you handle it without looking like a total mess?

My buddy had his phone die right when he needed to show a boarding pass at an airport cafe. The barista let him borrow her phone to pull up the email with the ticket, ended up being a whole group effort. He still jokes about being the only guy in line without a screen, but everyone around just thought it was funny.
