That tip about tipping baristas more changed my whole coffee shop routine

A buddy told me last month that if I tip a buck extra at my usual spot Downtown Grind, they'd remember me and hook me up. I figured he was just being generous, but I tried it. After three visits with a $2 tip on a $4 coffee, the barista started remembering my order and even saved me the corner table with the outlet. Now I get a free refill half the time and they wave me over when a good seat opens up. Has anyone else noticed a difference from tipping a little more at your regular shop?

Haha yeah the "pointing at the menu board" part hit home, now they just pour my usual the second I walk in.

Man my tipping game is so weak I probably come off as a ghost at my local shop. I once tried giving an extra dollar and the barista gave me this look like "uh, you know that's not how this works right?" Now I'm worried they think I'm just bad at math or something. But seriously, your story makes me want to give it another shot because I'm always fighting for a seat near an outlet and losing. Maybe I'll start with a two-dollar tip on a drip coffee and see if they start remembering my name instead of just pointing at the menu board. At this point even a free refill would be a win because I drink coffee like I'm trying to power a small engine.
