The 2-hour outlet rule at shared tables, why do people ignore it
I started doing remote work at a communal table spot in Austin last month and noticed the same thing happening every single day. People grab a seat with their laptop at 9am, plug into the only outlet, and don't leave until 1pm even though there's a posted 2-hour limit near the register. I get it, sometimes you get in the zone, but I saw three people walk in looking for a place to sit and just leave because every spot was taken by someone camped out. The barista told me they only enforce it if someone complains directly, which nobody wants to do. Has anyone else seen this at their usual spot, and how do you handle it without being the bad guy?

The 2-hour rule is usually more of a guideline than a hard rule, from what I've seen at other spots, so it's not exactly being ignored as much as it's just not enforced. But yeah, it still sucks watching people leave because of the outlet hogs.
