Used to hate working at busy coffee shops, now I love them

I always thought loud places were terrible for getting anything done, but last month I tried the Daily Grind on 3rd Street during their afternoon rush. Turns out the background noise actually helps me focus better than silence, and I finished a whole project in under 2 hours. Anyone else find that busy spots work better for them?

Used to hate working at busy coffee shops" - that part's fair, but it's not really about the noise helping you focus. More like the chaos drowns out your own thoughts so you have no choice but to lock in.

The corner table trick from @milessmith is key. Found that out the hard way after getting my laptop knocked off a table twice. Also helps to go during off hours like 2pm on a Tuesday when the rush is dead but the background noise is still there. That steady hum is way better than complete silence.

alex307 said "the chaos drowns out your own thoughts so you have no choice but to lock in", and yeah that's pretty much been my experience too. The trick is finding the right level of busy though, not just any loud place. If it's too quiet my brain wanders and if it's too loud I can't hear myself think. Try a spot that's got that steady hum but not so packed you're getting bumped every two minutes. Also bring good noise cancelling earbuds just in case the vibe shifts, and stake out a corner table so you're not in the main flow of traffic. Once you dial in that sweet spot of background noise it's like your brain just clicks into gear without you even trying.
