Comparing hand-drawn vs digital inking blew my mind
I spent 10 years just using brush and ink. Tried a Wacom tablet for the first time last week. The undo button alone saved me like 3 hours. But man, that physical brush feel is something else. Anyone else switch between both methods?

Right? It's like your hand expects a certain amount of drag and when it's not there it just gives up. I tried digital for the first time and kept making these jagged little chicken scratches because my brain was so confused by the lack of friction. The undo button is a lifesaver though... until you've undone something ten times and realize you've just been redrawing the same shaky line over and over like a maniac. Paper texture layers definitely help, but honestly I still prefer the mess... ink stains on my desk feel like proof I actually did something.

Totally get what you mean about that physical feedback. I switched from mechanical pencils to digital a few years ago for comic work, and the lack of paper texture actually messed with my line confidence at first. What helped me was turning on a subtle paper texture layer in the software and using a screen protector that mimics tooth. Feels silly but it tricked my brain into relaxing.

Paper texture layer is a lifesaver, I swear. I felt like a caveman the first time I went digital, couldn't get a single line right. Tried a paper-feel screen protector and it helped, but I still find myself tapping the screen with my other hand like a lunatic checking for the real thing. At this point I've just accepted my desk looks like a crime scene with sticky notes everywhere for that tactile fix.
