I finally bought a $40 short box that locks and it's the reason my comics survived my basement flooding
Two months ago I caved and spent $40 on one of those locking plastic short boxes for my key books instead of my usual cardboard ones. Last week a pipe burst in my basement and the cardboard boxes soaked up water like paper towels, ruining about 30 random issues. The locked box floated on top with barely a drop inside, and my copy of Uncanny X-Men 266 came out fine. I feel stupid for not doing this years ago but also lucky I at least did it for the good stuff. Anyone got a system for keeping their long boxes off a basement floor without spending a fortune on shelving?
