My comic shop in Austin got hit by a scammer last week

A guy came in on Tuesday asking for a full run of a specific variant cover. He paid with a card that looked real, but the machine flagged it. When I said we needed cash, he got mad and left fast. I checked the security feed and saw him trying the same thing at two other shops in town. Has anyone else seen this guy or had similar problems lately?

Yeah, that's rough. I think @garcia.tyler is right about them hitting a bunch of spots. It's usually a pattern, not just one store.

My buddy runs a game store over in San Antonio. He had a guy try to buy a whole stack of rare Magic cards with a fake card last month. The guy even had a story about it being a gift for his brother. When the card got declined, he just bolted out the door without the cards. Makes you wonder how many places they hit before getting caught, right?

That "gift for his brother" line is the oldest trick in the book, happens everywhere now.
