Pro tip: Used sticky tabs to mark my longbox dividers

I always had trouble finding specific issues in my longboxes without flipping through everything... Finally tried putting those little colored sticky tabs on the dividers with issue numbers written on them. Cost me like $3 at a Staples in Portland and now I can grab any issue from my X-Men collection in under 10 seconds. Anyone else got a cheap organizing trick that actually works?

Maybe it's just me but I tried that with my X-Men books too and the tabs kept peeling off after a few months. The sticky residue got all over the dividers and I had to replace half of them. I guess if you're not flipping through them constantly it might work better. For me, I just gave up and alphabetized everything by title then sorted by issue number inside each section.

Alphabetizing by title and then issue number has been my system for years now. It just makes sense when you have more than a longbox worth of stuff. I went a step further and wrote the title and issue range on the spine of each box with a silver Sharpie so I don't have to pull lids off to find anything. Keeps the whole stack looking consistent and saves a bunch of time when you're digging through for a specific run.

Grab a pack of those clear adhesive pockets meant for binders instead. They're like 2 bucks at any office supply store and they hold up way better than sticky tabs because the divider goes inside the pocket. I've had mine on my ASM dividers for three years now with zero peeling or residue issues. You can slip a little index card in there with the issue ranges written on it and swap it out easy when you reorganize. Plus it looks cleaner than having random colored tabs sticking out everywhere.
