Rant: Reading a digital comic on a tablet vs a physical floppy is completely different

I was going through my long boxes last weekend to find an old issue of X-Men and realized I hadn't touched a physical comic in like six months. I'd been reading everything on my iPad for convenience. But there's something about the smell of the paper and the way the pages feel that makes the story hit different. The digital stuff is fine for catching up but I missed three panels because of glare at the coffee shop. Has anyone else noticed they remember story details way better from the paper copies?

Does the glare really mess with you that much? I actually remember digital stuff better since I can zoom in on the art and it's right there on the same device every time.

Oh man, totally! The zoom thing is a game changer for me too. I have this one digital painting I keep coming back to just to stare at the tiny little brush strokes I'd never see in real life. Plus, having it on my tablet means I can pull it up in bed at 2am without worrying about knocking over a lamp or something.

Man, I gotta agree with @gibson.sarah on the zoom thing. But I'm the opposite - the glare on my phone kills me every time. I remember stuff better on paper because I can see the whole piece at once without squinting. Plus, when I'm holding a print, I don't have to worry about my battery dying in the middle of appreciating some tiny detail. Digital's fine for quick looks but for really getting into art, give me the real thing any day.
