Remember when you had to physically hunt for a missing back issue at a con?
I was at the Pittsburgh Comicon in 2007, frantically searching for the final part of a story, and a stranger saw my panic, pulled the exact issue from his own bag, and just gave it to me, asking only that I 'pass it on' to another fan someday.

Heard a similar story on a podcast once.

Oh man, that basement story hits home. My brother left a box of his old X-Men comics in our garage. A pipe burst right above it. We laid them all out on the kitchen floor, every single one. Used paper towels between the pages. They were never the same, all wavy and stiff. Still makes him mad.

That reminds me of the time my friend's entire run of a series got soaked when his basement flooded. We spent a whole weekend at his place with a hair dryer and wax paper, trying to save every single page. The smell of wet newsprint still takes me right back to that summer.
