Saw a comic book shop owner turn a dusty back room into a goldmine in 6 months

I walked into this shop near my place in Austin last year and the back room was just piles of random old issues with no organization. The owner said he was just using it for storage. Then 6 months ago he decided to actually sort and catalog everything, put up some used bookshelves, and price things fair. Now that room brings in like 40% of his monthly sales. Has anyone else seen a store totally transform just by cleaning up their mess?

Did you help him sort the back issues or just watched it happen?

I mean, I get what you're saying @cole356, but "just watched it happen" isn't really fair IMO. I was actually helping him for a good hour before you showed up, pulling stacks off the floor and sorting them by month. It's not like I was standing there with my hands in my pockets. And calling them "back issues" is a bit generous, half of them were from 2003 and covered in dust. Maybe it's just me but I feel like any work in a shop counts, even if it's just moving boxes around.

Nah @cole356, I actually think that's a bit of a stretch calling it a goldmine. A dusty back room sorted out is just good organization, not some miracle turnaround.
