Shoutout to the clerk at my LCS who pointed out I was bagging my comics upside down

I've been sliding my comics into bags with the flap facing the front for like 5 years. A guy at the counter saw me do it and said I was basically inviting dust to settle on the top edge. Has anyone else been doing something simple like this wrong for way too long?

Wait, you mean the opening is supposed to face the other way or the flap goes in the back?

Yeah, about the "flap goes in the back" thing, I actually heard on a home improvement podcast that a lot of people install them backward. They were talking about how the flap is supposed to sit against the back of the toilet bowl, not hang out in the front. I think it's one of those things where the picture on the box is so small you can't even tell which way it goes. I've definitely put one on wrong before and wondered why it was chattering or not sealing right. Just a little angle change and bam, problem solved. Makes you wonder how many other simple things we're all getting backwards.

The first time I replaced mine I had the flap facing forward for like 3 months before a plumber buddy came over and laughed at me. He said the flap sits against the back of the bowl so it creates a proper seal when water pushes up against it. I switched it around and the toilet stopped making that weird hissing sound every 20 minutes. Honestly felt like an idiot but hey at least it works now lol.
