Stopped by the old comic shop in Akron and the vibe is totally different now

I was back in my hometown and swung by Comics Plus on Main Street, a place I spent every Saturday at in the 90s. The back issue bins are almost gone, replaced by Funko Pop walls and a huge section for graphic novel adaptations of movies. It just feels more like a general pop culture store than a place for comic fans to dig. Has anyone else's local shop changed this much over the last decade?

Oh man, I know the feeling. Last time I went in, I had to ask where the new comics were. They pointed me to a single spinner rack tucked behind a life-size cardboard cutout of a Marvel actor. The owner was busy unpacking a new shipment of scented candles based on superhero logos. I just wanted a comic, not a themed air freshener.

Ugh, tell me about it. My old spot looks like a Hot Topic threw up in there now. I went in looking for some old X-Factor issues and got lost in a sea of plastic bobbleheads. It's like they forgot the comics part of comic book store, lmao.

Had the same problem at my usual place. Started asking the owner to pull specific back issues from the storage room before I even go in. Saves me from digging through all the new junk. Sometimes they'll even set stuff aside if they know what you're looking for. It's the only way to get actual comics anymore without the toy store mess.
