That one comment from a guy at the shop changed my pull list forever

I was at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis last summer. An older collector saw me grab like six new number ones. He just said 'you're missing all the runs that matter.' Stung a bit. Now I focus on finishing long series instead of chasing every debut.

Missing all the runs that matter." That's a rough thing to hear but honestly kind of brilliant. I used to grab every #1 that looked shiny too and ended up with boxes of half read first issues. Now I stick to finishing big runs like Brubaker's Cap or Snyder's Batman. Feels way better to actually complete something.

Wait @the_emma what runs DID you actually finish that made you feel good about it? Because I had the same PROBLEM where I'd start something and then bail halfway through. What finally worked for me was making a list of my top 5 runs and forcing myself to read one all the way through before buying anything else. I did Mark Waid's Daredevil first and that one really hooked me because every issue built on the last one. After that I knocked out Ed Brubaker's Criminal and it felt SO good to see the full story play out. Now I only grab new number ones if I KNOW I'm gonna commit to the whole thing.
