The day I stopped gatekeeping silver age issues in Portland

I used to think you had to read every issue in order or you weren't a real fan, spent like 5 years doing that with my X-Men run. Then I saw this kid at the Milwaukie comic shop flip straight to issue #137 and just devour it, he got more out of that single book than I got from 50 prior issues combined. It hit me that jumping around is fine, the stories still connect on their own, and now I read whatever issue looks good on the shelf. Anyone else break out of the chronological cage and feel way more free about collecting?
