The LCS owner who told me to stop buying #1 issues was right
My shop guy Steve kept saying I was wasting $4 on first issues that would be $1 in six months. After 40+ #1s sitting in a longbox I finally saw he was right, now I wait for trades and grab the good runs instead. Anyone else have a shop owner who saved them cash?

Steve's advice hits the same note as my local coffee shop guy who told me to stop buying a new bag every week just cause the label looked cool. Same with my buddy who waited 3 months on a video game he was hyped for, got it half off, and it had all the patches already. People push back on delayed gratification hard, but the shops that actually care about your wallet over their register are rare. It's like learning the hard way that hype and collectibles are two different animals, and most of us aren't really collecting, just feeding the urge to open something new. Now I treat a #1 like a lottery ticket, fun to peek at, but I don't plan my budget around it.
