Appreciation post: I called those new heated dive hoods a gimmick until my last job in Puget Sound

The water was 42 degrees and my old setup was killing me, so I tried one for a 3-hour inspection. Now I'm a believer, but my partner says they're just another thing to fail. Anyone run into issues with them?

3 hour inspection in 42 degree water" is insane. That's not diving, that's torture. Your partner's right about stuff failing, but frostbite is a worse failure mode.

People forget how cold water messes with your head too. Decision-making gets real slow when you're that numb, which is its own safety risk. That mental fog is a silent killer in those conditions.

Ever had a regulator fail? That's way worse than a warm head.
