Blew a hydraulic line on a dive at the shipyard in Norfolk and had to bail out
Had a 100 foot umbilical hose go on me about 40 feet down while I was doing a hull inspection at the Norfolk shipyard two weeks back. The hose was 6 months old but had a weak spot near the fitting and it started spraying hydraulic fluid right in my face mask. I signaled for a bailout and the tender had me on the surface in under 3 minutes, no injuries but it scared the hell out of me. Now I do a 2 minute hands-on hose check before every splash, anyone else had a fitting fail way earlier than it should have?
