Finally stopped using duct tape on my hose connections last month

Used to wrap every fitting with duct tape thinking it would stop leaks. Switched to proper zip ties and a bit of silicone grease instead, costs me $12 for a tub that lasts a year. Anyone else have a go-to trick for keeping hoses sealed?

Duct tape never failed me once in ten years, you're just wasting money on fancy stuff now.

And honestly the cheap stuff works fine for 99% of things around the house. I've patched up garden hoses and broken chair legs with it and it held for years. You're really just paying for the name with those premium brands.

Amen to that! I've got a roll of the dollar store stuff in my garage right now that's held my car's bumper mirror on for like three years through rain and snow. @verawhite totally gets it, you really don't need to drop twenty bucks on tape.
