Found a trick for clearing mask fog in cold water

Been dealing with fogged up masks on winter dives near Seattle for years, tried every defog spray out there. Turns out rubbing a tiny bit of baby shampoo on the lens and letting it dry for 30 seconds before a rinse works better than all of them. Anyone else got a go-to for this?

Haven't you noticed that the cheap simple stuff usually works better than the fancy specialized products? I swear by plain old dish soap for cleaning my bike chain, and my neighbor uses regular vinegar to keep his boat windows from fogging up in the marina. It's like companies put all this extra junk in things just to charge more, but the original simple formula does the job. Baby shampoo makes total sense for mask lens, it's gentle and leaves that little film behind that stops fogging without any harsh chemicals. Kind of like how I use salt water instead of expensive mouthwash when I've got a sore throat, just feels like common sense once you think about it.

Yeah but you're kind of missing the point on why people buy the fancy stuff... I used to think the same way till I started using anti-fog spray on my motorcycle visor and it actually lasts way longer than soap or shampoo. The cheap stuff works fine for a quick fix, but it wears off fast and you gotta reapply all the time. Plus that little film the baby shampoo leaves behind, that's exactly the thing that can get messy if you're sweating or it mixes with dust in the air. Specialized products are engineered for specific conditions, not just a one-size-fits-all trick that works in your kitchen.
