PSA: Stop using duct tape to patch wet suits on the job

Saw a guy at the Port of Houston last month tape up a torn drysuit with duct tape and it failed at 30 feet, so why are people still skipping proper vulcanizing patches when a $15 kit from the dive shop takes 10 minutes and lasts for months?

Yo for real, I've seen this go wrong way too many times. Duct tape might hold for a quick surface fix but once you hit that depth the pressure just peels it off like nothing. Grab a $15 vulcanizing patch kit from any dive shop, rough up the area with sandpaper, apply the glue and press it down for a solid minute. I keep one in my truck for emergencies and it's saved my butt more than once.

Buddy of mine did the same thing off Galveston last year.

Used to think it was exaggerated until I saw the video he sent me.
