Serious question, does anyone else inspect the intake screen on a job in Morgan City before signing off?
Last week I was on a shallow job in Morgan City and noticed the intake screen on the pump had a good half inch of marine growth nobody logged. I flagged it and the supervisor said they had not touched it since the last dry dock 8 months back, so it saved us a possible clog on the next run. Do you all make it a habit to check that kind of thing before you clear a job, or is it just me being paranoid?
So you're telling me that thing had a beard growing on it and nobody thought to write it down for 8 months? That is not you being paranoid, that is you being the only one on that boat who actually looks at stuff. Half inch of growth is one clog away from somebody standing around scratching their head asking why the pump quit. Keep checking it, because clearly nobody else is going to bother until something breaks.
