My train got stuck behind a broken signal in Secaucus for 47 minutes
Rode the 7:12 into Penn Station on Tuesday and we sat just outside Secaucus because a signal went dead. The conductor came on and said it would be 10 minutes, then kept saying 10 more minutes for almost an hour. I ended up 50 minutes late to a meeting I was already nervous about. Does anyone know if there is a way to check signal problems before boarding, or am I just stuck guessing every morning?
Used to figure the conductor was just as in the dark as us and there was no point checking anything. Then someone told me about the NJ Transit app alerts and I started watching them before I leave the house. Not perfect, they post stuff late sometimes, but last month it warned me about a signal issue near Secaucus and I just drove in instead. Saved myself the whole mess. Now I check it every single morning, takes ten seconds.
