Rant: My bus driver taught me a weird trick for the 7:15 AM route

I was always late because the 7:15 bus gets stuck in the same traffic jam by the old bridge. The driver told me to get off two stops early and walk across the bridge, which takes exactly 8 minutes, and catch the same bus on the other side after it clears the jam. Has anyone else found a weird physical shortcut like that?

Totally get that... I used to have a bus that would sit forever waiting to turn left into the transit center. Started getting off a block early, cutting through a parking lot, and just beating it to the stop on the other side. Felt like I cracked the city's secret code. Those little wins make the whole commute feel less hopeless.

Exactly. Found a similar trick with the 42 line downtown. The bus would get stuck in that left turn lane for ages. Started hopping off at the library, walking two blocks down the side street, and catching the same bus after it finally made the turn. Saved like ten minutes every day. It really does turn the whole trip around when you find that shortcut.
