Started stacking bus transfers 2 months ago, saves me $30 a month
I figured out if I buy a single ride ticket at the first stop of my commute instead of using my monthly pass, I can grab a free transfer that works for 90 minutes. That transfer covers my connecting bus back from the grocery store near my office. So I only buy a fare for the morning trip and ride home for free if I time it right. It's not a huge thing but over 20 work days that's about $30 in my pocket. Anyone else find a weird loophole in their local transit system?

My buddy tried that and ended up with a ticket from a grumpy driver who didn't buy it.

Nah, if they didn't want you using it that way they'd make the system actually stop you.

Yeah but that transfer trick only works if the driver actually gives you the transfer paper, most buses around here went digital so the machine just spits one out automatically whether you want it or not. I've seen people try to argue with drivers over it and it never ends well because the policy is written pretty clearly for the transfer to only work one way. Honestly just save the headache and stick with the monthly pass if your commute involves any transfers that go past that 90 minute window.
