That one guy on the bus told me to take the back roads and it saved me 20 minutes
So there's this older guy I see every morning at the 7th Street stop. Last week he said I should skip the highway and take Old Mill Road through the hills. I figured he was just being chatty but I tried it yesterday. Turns out he was right, my commute went from 45 minutes to 25 and I didn't hit a single light. Has anyone else gotten random advice from a stranger that actually worked out for you?

My dad once told me to trust the guy selling oranges on the corner and now I get the best fruit every time.

Totally agree @williamm82, the fruit guy near my place never lets me down either...

My uncle ran a small grocery store for 20 years and he always said the same thing about street vendors. He noticed they have to sell everything they bought that day or it goes bad, so their stuff is usually fresher than what sits in a warehouse for a week. Might be worth asking what time of day they restock, in my experience the morning haul is the best batch.
