Cleared 500 dust-filled laptops this month

I'm a tech at a university repair shop and that number really hit me... it's just a constant stream of overheating from blocked vents. Most were fixed with a simple air duster and a five minute cleaning. Anyone else seeing way more of this lately, or is it just our campus?

I mean, that's a ton of units. Idk if it's more lately, but maybe it's just the time of year with all the pollen and stuff getting pulled into the fans.

My buddy's gaming laptop was shutting down every 20 minutes. He was ready to buy a whole new cooling pad. I finally got him to open it up, and the fan grill was basically a solid mat of cat hair and dust bunnies. He cleaned it out with a toothbrush and a can of air, and it's been running quiet and cool for months now. He had no idea it could get that bad.

Feel so bad for your buddy, that must have been so frustrating. My old laptop used to sound like a jet engine before I learned to clean it. It's crazy how much gunk builds up without you even noticing. Really glad a simple fix worked out for him.
