Got burned skipping thermal paste reseat on a refurb laptop last week
Had to choose between a full teardown repaste or just wiping the old stuff and slapping it back together on a Dell Latitude I picked up for $80. Went with the lazy option cause I was tired after work. 3 days later the thing started thermal throttling hard during a Windows update. Now I gotta crack it open again. Anyone else cut corners on paste jobs and instantly regret it?

Left my PS3 on a carpet once and thought it was fine until the thermal paste turned into soup lol.

I read somewhere that Sony told people to keep those old consoles off carpets, but we all learned the hard way, right @mary_martin22?
