Had 3 dead drives walk in on the same Tuesday and I felt like a hero by 5pm
Last Tuesday at the shop in Boise I got a walk-in with a clicking laptop drive, then two more dead drives before lunch, all three with family photos nobody had backed up. I got two of them fully imaged with ddrescue over about 6 hours and only the third one turned out to be a lost cause, a head crash I could hear from across the bench. Honestly the best part was calling the first lady to tell her the photos were fine, she started crying on the phone. It was a rough day in some ways but those wins are why I still like this job. What do you all tell people when one drive is just too far gone?
