Rant: A client in Phoenix brought in a laptop that wouldn't boot, and the fix was a 5 cent part

Last week, a guy came in with a dead laptop, no power at all. After checking the usual stuff, I found a tiny, blown fuse on the motherboard, part number PF2. Replaced it for pennies and it fired right up. Anyone else had a simple fuse save a whole board lately?

Isn't it wild how the most expensive problems sometimes have the cheapest fixes?

Honestly, that's just good design for once.

Ever wonder if some of these parts are designed to fail first on purpose? A cheap fuse blowing could stop a bigger surge from wrecking the whole board. It's like a cheap sacrifice to save the expensive parts. Makes you question if it's a bug or a feature for planned repairs.
