Switched to a modular PSU after a cable management nightmare

I spent 4 hours last Saturday fighting with a nest of unused cables from my old non-modular power supply... finally swapped it out for a modular one and the airflow in my case is way better now. The temps dropped by about 8 degrees under load, which I didn't expect from just cleaning up the inside. Anyone else notice a big difference after switching to modular?

Hold on a SECOND. Saying "modular on a budget" with zip ties doesn't really work like that. A modular PSU HAS to have the cables detach from the unit itself, not just tucked away with ties. What you described is just cable management on a non-modular unit, which is still a nightmare. If you clipped off the extra connectors and spliced wires together, that's a fire hazard waiting to happen. The whole point of modular is that you LEAVE OUT the cables you don't need. Don't confuse "tied up cables" with actually being able to unplug them from the PSU.

Temps dropped by about 8 degrees" - man, that's legit. I thought I was hot stuff when my temps dropped like 3 degrees. Proves how much those rats nest cables mess with airflow. My non-modular build looked like a spaghetti monster threw up inside. Still got a few zip ties holding it together from my "modular on a budget" phase.
