That weird beep code mapping saved my 3 hour diagnosis yesterday
I was pulling my hair out on an old Dell OptiPlex from 2012 at a client's office in Toledo. No POST, no display, just a repeating short beep. I assumed RAM, swapped sticks, tried different slots, reseated everything, still beeping. After 2 hours I finally looked up the actual beep code sequence instead of guessing. Turns out it was a CMOS battery failure on that board, and the beep pattern was different than what I remembered. One $3 battery later it booted right up. How do you guys handle obscure beep codes, do you keep a cheat sheet or just Google it every time?
