Warning: thermal paste pump-out hit me after 2 years, not 6 months

Was redoing a client's gaming rig in Austin last Tuesday and the CPU was hitting 95C idle. Pulled the cooler and the paste had migrated off the die completely, dry spots everywhere. I always thought pump-out was a delidding problem, but this was a stock i7 with a bracket mount. Has anyone else seen this on standard sockets, or did I just get a bad paste batch?
