DAE notice how a slab looks totally different between the trowel pass and 24 hours later?
Did a 30 by 40 shop pad out in Waxahachie two weeks ago and it was driving me nuts. Right after the power trowel the surface had this glassy sheen, like a mirror, and I was patting myself on the back on the drive home. Came back the next morning and the same slab looked flat, chalky, almost grayish-white in spots, and I honestly stood there squinting like I got the address wrong. My finisher Marcus just laughed and said that's the cure, man, you're not looking at the same thing anymore. Turns out the moisture coming up through the top gives you that wet look, and once it dries out you see the real color and every little burn mark you missed. I've been pouring for 11 years and it still tricks me every single time. Anybody else get that gut drop walking up the next day, or is it just me second guessing my work?
Wondering if that chalky look is partly the cure compound itself sitting on top? Marcus ever tell you to hose a section down and see how much of that gray was just dust from the curing?
