Hot take: Spraying the slab during the final pass ruins the job
I keep seeing finishers mist the concrete to smooth it out before the last trowel. That water just sits on top and makes the cream weak, so it flakes off in a year. Why does anyone think this is a good idea?

Yeah, that part about the cream getting weak is spot on. It's just like when people thin out paint too much to make it go further. Sure, it covers easy now, but the coat ends up thin and peels in no time. You see this kind of shortcut all over, like using cheap glue for a quick fix instead of the right stuff. It feels easier in the moment but always leads to more work down the road. With concrete, that mist might give you a smooth look today, but you're just asking for cracks and flakes tomorrow.

Actually, a light mist can help concrete cure right without cracks! It's heavy watering that causes the weak layer.
