Rant: My broom trick for finishing driveways finally worked
I got tired of the big pour on a driveway in Phoenix sticking to my finish broom and leaving drag marks... tried wetting the bristles and then spraying them with cooking spray before I start. It actually made the broom glide smooth as glass across the whole 800 square foot slab. Has anyone else found a weird hack like this that sounds dumb but actually helps?

That cooking spray thing sounds like it would leave residue and mess with the concrete's finish over time. I'd be worried about it bonding weird with the broom and causing more drag marks than it prevents.

...and isn't that the same problem you'd get with any release agent that's not designed for concrete? I mean, if the spray's main ingredient is basically oil, what's stopping it from soaking in and doing exactly what you're worried about with the broom? Has anyone actually tested this with a scrap slab before trying it on a whole driveway? It just seems like one of those hacks that sounds smart in theory but turns into a headache later when you're staring at a weird, blotchy finish you can't fix.
