Saw a sidewalk pour in Seattle where they skipped the broom finish entirely.
It was a big public walkway project near the waterfront, and the crew just power troweled it to a slick shine. No texture at all. I watched an older guy in dress shoes nearly eat it when a light rain started. Are we getting too focused on speed and forgetting basic safety? What's the point of a sidewalk you can't walk on?

That finish is a lawsuit waiting to happen, like daniel474 said.

Seriously, no broom finish at all on a public walkway? That's just asking for trouble. It gets damp here like every other day. Someone's going to fall and break a hip on that slick concrete. Can't believe they signed off on that job. Saving a few minutes on the pour is not worth the risk.
