Hit 80,000 miles on my truck and found out the odometer story was wrong

I bought a used Ford F-150 with 74,000 miles and always assumed the previous owner just did highway commutes. Last month I rolled past 80,000 on the dash and pulled the Carfax just for fun. Turns out the truck sat in a storage lot for almost two years and had a rebuilt transmission at 61,000. That changed how I see odometer milestones entirely, they don't tell you about the pauses or the parts that got swapped. I thought crossing a round number would feel like proof of reliability, but it really just made me question every maintenance record. People get obsessed with hitting 100k like it's a curse, but the real story is in the gaps between numbers. Has anyone else dug into a vehicle's history and found a totally different picture than the mileage suggested?
