I watched the neighbor's pine tree get cut down and my whole yard changed in 2 weeks

There was this huge pine tree right along my fence line in Nashville that blocked the sun from like 10am to 4pm. The guy who owned it finally had it taken down back in March after a storm damaged it. Within two weeks my grass started growing way thicker and I noticed this weird yellow mold patch just disappeared from the shady corner near the fence. Has anyone else seen a big change in their yard after removing a tree or is it just me noticing small stuff?

Got a buddy in Memphis who had this giant maple taken out from his front yard last summer. He said his lawn went from patchy dirt to thick grass in like three weeks and his AC bill dropped noticeably. His whole front of the house felt different, way brighter and warmer earlier in the day.
