Three years chasing a shadow on my own street, finally checked the old fire maps

Back in 2021 I started noticing my neighbors' basements all had damp corners on the same side of the block, even in a dry stretch. Took me until last month to dig up the 1954 city sewer plans from the archive desk at Trenton's public library. Turns out there's a buried creek line running right under the cul-de-sac that got filled in during the 60s. Why does a random drainage ditch on a historical map get buried deeper than any actual proof of the moon landings? Anyone else cracked a local mystery that took way too long to put together?
